KIREI COLOR, 100 g
Kirei Color is a lofty, warm, and soft 100% mercerized* wool yarn for beautiful outdoor knitwear and accessories for the whole family. Its vibrant colorways are inspired directly by nature. Kirei is also well suited for crochet. The yarn is ideal for creating striking Icelandic-style sweaters and cardigans, as well as vests, slipovers, hats, and cowls. Patterns originally designed for Norwegian sweaters (e.g. for Lettlopi yarn) are also well suited for Kirei.
Mercerization gives the yarn a soft sheen and enhances the depth of its colors. When mercerized, the yarn has a firmer structure, making it especially pleasant to knit and crochet. Mercerized wool can be machine washed on a gentle cycle.
Tip for a stunning Icelandic-style yoke sweater
Begin the sweater by knitting from the neckline down, working the neckline or collar and a few centimeters of the body in a solid shade of KIREI NATURAL. Switch to KIREI COLOR for knitting the yoke. From the lower edge of the yoke onward, continue knitting the body and sleeves again in the solid-colored yarn. Use KIREI COLOR for decorative stripes at the hem and cuffs, and finish with ribbing in the solid color.
For an adult sweater, you will need 2 skeins of KIREI COLOR and 3–5 skeins of solid-colored KIREI NATURAL.
